Veteran musician Nick Kelly sets out to cycle from his Dublin home to the Glastonbury Festival, carrying his guitar on his bicycle and playing shows along the way. He’s accompanied by his long-suffering and sometimes sceptical friend and musical partner, Seán Millar, who tracks his progress by bus and joins him onstage every night. On the day they finally play Glastonbury Nick turns 60, officially outliving his famous politician father. While inspired by environmental concerns, "The Song Cycle" turns out to be about other forms of sustainability too. Ultimately it encourages viewers to keep pedalling, whatever the weather, traffic, hills or humiliations they may face on the road.
